Caption: The Waikiki Shopping District on Kalakaua Avenue, where picturesque and slanting coco palms border the ultra-modern buildings on wold famous Waikiki Beach on the island of Oahu. This retail shopping center fronting Kalakaua Avenue in front of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel's Royal Grove, was noted for anchor tenants, including Watamull Beach Shops, Leilani Gifts and original Waikiki location of Honolulu's finest clothier, McInerny Shop. Its deep overhanging roof was puncutated by distinctive "pukas", allowing the coconut palms in its landscaping to reach the sky, and jewel box storefront window displays.
Designed by Wimberly and Cook, and built by Walker Moody Construction.
Replaced by the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center in 1979.
