The hotel became the Hilton Hawaiian Village in 1961.

Description

The aluminum geodesic dome was designed by Kaiser Aluminum Engineers with a license from Buckminster Fuller (1895 - 1983).  It was erected in 20 hours on January 15, 1957.  The showroom opened on February 17, 1957 for the premiere of "Around the World in 80 Days" and then the Symphony Polynesia starring singer Alfred Apaka.

The dome was demolished in 1999.
